Bayern Munich have identified Liverpool's Andy Robertson as a potential replacement for Alphonso Davies, who is set to join Real Madrid in the upcoming summer transfer window, as reported by the Daily Mail on Wednesday.

Robertson, a key figure in Liverpool's success under Jurgen Klopp, has played a pivotal role in the club's acquisition of eight trophies since his £8 million move from Hull City in 2017.

Virgil van Dijk, the scorer of the winning goal in Sunday's exciting Carabao Cup final, raised concerns among Liverpool fans last month by hinting at a possible departure along with Klopp. Although Klopp downplayed the significance of Van Dijk's comments, uncertainty lingers over the future of several first-team players following the German's exit announcement. Robertson is now the latest player linked with a move away from Merseyside.

Bayern has included Robertson in their shortlist of left-back targets, believing they can entice the 29-year-old with the prospect of a new challenge. Reports suggest that Davies has verbally agreed to join Real Madrid for the 2024/25 season, and Bayern views Robertson as an ideal successor on the left side of their defense.

Despite having two-and-a-half years left on his current contract at Anfield, Liverpool is determined to retain Robertson and will exert all efforts to prevent him from leaving.

Liverpool showcased the talent in their youth ranks during their League Cup triumph, with five academy products on the pitch at Wembley. This display instils confidence in the club's future, even in the face of the potential departures of key players under Klopp.

Speaking after the final, Robertson praised the way in which the club’s youngsters had stood up in the absence of the likes of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.

"We believe in the team and the young lads but when everyone turned up for the pre-match meal it has to be right up there.

"We have a lot of players out and hopefully they come back soon enough and we can be a wee bit stronger for the rest of the season.

"It wasn’t a risk [to play the youngsters]. We see them every single day. What else are we meant to do? That was our bench today and the quality they have we can see at the training ground every day. We didn’t believe it was a risk.

"We just wanted them to express themselves and that is what we tried to help them with," he added.
